The Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding machine, also referred to as a tungsten inert gas arc welding machine, is a welding system that employs a non-consumable tungsten electrode to generate an electric arc. This arc produces the heat required to melt the base metal and, if used, the filler wire. The welding process is protected by an inert shielding gas, typically argon, which prevents atmospheric contamination of the molten weld pool and minimizes oxidation. A defining characteristic of TIG welding is that the electrode remains intact throughout the process. This method is widely recognized for producing welds of exceptional quality with minimal defects. As such, TIG welding machines serve as essential equipment in high-precision and high-quality welding applications, particularly in industries where weld integrity, cleanliness, and defect-free performance are paramount. However, due to its relatively lower deposition rate and higher operational costs, TIG welding is generally more suited to applications where weld quality takes precedence over productivity.
